Invitational Under 13 Championships

An Under 13 NSW representative team will be selected to participate in the inaugural 2007 U13 Triangular Tournament in Altona (VIC) during the Australia Day long weekend.

To qualify, a player must be a NSW resident, under 13 years of age by the Dec 31 2006 (born on the date of Jan 01 1994 or after) and must be a member of NSWBA or SBA.

Cost : Approximately $10-$13 (depends on the number of participants)

The International Badminton Federation recently changed its name to Badminton World Federation (BWF). In line with this change, BWF has decided to create a new logo and launched a Logo Design competition on 1 Nov 2006.

The worldwide competition will be conducted through a website www.bwflogodesign.com and is open to anyone, 18 years of age and above.

UNSW 2006 Summer Open

Please find attached the UNSW Summer Open tournament entry form for your participation and information. This will be the final tournament in Sydney this year.

UNSW would be delighted to have as many as possible attend and would appreciate your registration by the due date of 17 November 2006 so the UNSWBC Committee can schedule courts and matches cost effectively.

2007 NSW U17 June Bevan Carnival Selection

The final selection for the NSW 2007 U17 Badminton teams has been proposed for mid December. There are 2 sessions for this selection, the Fitness Level Assessment and the Selection Trial. Players must attend both sessions to qualify. The cost for participating is approximately $10-$13, depending on the number of applicants. Following are the details.

Fitness Level Assessment:
Date : 3rd December 2006 (Sunday)
Time : 5:00-5:30pm
Venue : NSW Netball Association, Church Street, Lidcombe 2141

Selection Trial:
Date : 9th December 2006 (Saturday)
Time : 9:00am-1:00pm
Venue : Sydney Olympic Park Sports Hall, Grand Parade, Sydney Olympic Park

To qualify, a player must be a NSW resident; under 17 years of age by the end of 2007 (born in 1991 or after) and must be a member of NSWBA or SBA. All selected players will represent NSW to participate in the 2007 U17 June Bevan Carnival in New Zealand during the April school holiday.

The selection criteria includes:
- Previous NSWBA/SBA tournament results
- Selection trial results
- Fitness test results
- General skill level and potential

The Australian Closed Championships now begin!

The final playoffs of the Clendinnen Shield were completed this evening, with VIC taking the Shield over NSW, while SA got over QLD for 3rd place in similarly tight matches. TAS finished in 5th place, while WA overcame NT to finish in 6th place.

So now begins the Australian Closed Championships and the results will be available here.

The Ede Clendinnen Shield has kicked off!

Winners in the first round ties include NSW, TAS, and QLD. VIC had the bye. View the results here.
